Florida Governor Charlie Crist Proclaims April As Pest Management Month

Orlando, Fla. - Governor Charlie Crist has proclaimed April as Pest Management Month in Florida. The Governor's proclamation recognized the vital role Pest Management Professionals (PMPs) play in protecting the health and property of millions of Floridians.

Governor Crist specifically commended the Florida Pest Management Association for its leadership in representing the profession and in protecting the state's environment. New Chemical Security Regulation

Beginning January 22, 2008 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) go into effect and pest management companies that possess a Screening Threshold Quantity (STQ) of a chemical of interest (COI) must submit a Top-Screen survey to DHS or be subject to significant monetary and other penalties. Pest Management Foundation Seeks Research Proposals

Fairfax, VA - January 9, 2008 - The National Pest Management Association's charitable organization - the Pest Management Foundation - today issued a solicitation for grant proposals related to the management of structural pests and pests in urban and suburban environments.

Any submission deemed worthwhile by the Foundation will be eligible for a grant of up to $35,000. Eligible entities include, but are not limited to institutions of higher learning, non-profit organizations, for-profit businesses, and individuals. More...
